OAKLEAF SERVICE
The annual Oakleaf Service of remembrance for victims of road accidents and their families took place at Leeds Parish Church on Sunday 21st November at 3pm, with an increased attendance this year. This Service is organised annually in conjuction with SCARD and CADD with strong support from the Police and other emergency services. This year's Service was attended by a number of civic dignitaries from across Yorkshire, including the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, the HIgh Sheriff of South Yorkshire, the Lord Mayor of Leeds, the Lord Mayor of Bradford, and the Mayors of Wakefield, Kirklees, Barnsley, Rotherham and Morley . A feature of the Service each year is the bringing to the Altar of Oak Leaves bearing names of those killed or seriously injured on our roads. The 2011 Service takes place on Sunday 20th November.
