Solemn Mass – 175h anniversary of the Assize Sermon at the start of the “Oxford” movement – Music by Tomas Luis da Victoria sung by Saynte Peter’s Clerkes

 

Friday 18th July

12.30 pm         Lunchtime Organ Music Concert by Alan McGuinness of St Asaph Cathedral

                        Final Concert in the David Houlder and friends series

                        There is no Lunchtime Organ Music on Friday 25th July

 

Sunday 20th July

10.30 am         Bligny Commemoration Choral Eucharist with Act of Remembrance

                        Full Adult Choir – the only Choral Service in July

 

Wednesday 23rd July

5.30 pm                       at Ely Cathedral – Choral Evensong by the Choir of Leeds Parish Church

                        Perosi – Magnificat; Thorpe Davie – Come, Holy Ghost, the Maker, come

 

Thursday 24th July

4.00 pm                       at the Chapel of King’s College, Cambridge

                        Choral Recital by the Choir of Leeds Parish Church

                        A short late afternoon programme of music – free to those visiting the Chapel

 

Friday 25th July

1.00 pm                       at The National Musicians’ Church, St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, London EC1

                        - the Church of the “Bells of Old Bailey” in the Nursery Rhyme

                        Choral Concert by the Choir of Leeds Parish Church including Pearsall’s Requiem

 

Saturday 26th July

11.15 am         at All Saints’ Pastoral Centre, London Colney, near St Albans [M25 Junction 22]

                        Choral Eucharist according to the Book of Common Prayer


Sunday 27th July

11.00 am         at the Chapel of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London SW3

                        Choral Matins – Combined Choirs of Leeds Parish Church & The Royal Hospital

7.45 pm                       Romantic Organ Masterworks – the first Recital of the 2008 Series

7.45 pm                       Romantic Organ Masterworks – the second Recital of the 2008 Series

                        Celebrity Concert by the brilliant young Norwegian organist Arnfinn Tobiassen

 

Sunday 17th August

7.45 pm                       Romantic Organ Masterworks – Dr Simon Lindley gives the third concert of five

 

Sunday 24th August

7.45 pm                       Romantic Organ Masterworks – Dr Simon Lindley gives the fourth recital

 

Sunday 31st August

7.45        pm                  Romantic Organ Masterworks – Dr Simon Lindley gives the final recital of the series

 

Sunday 7th September – Anniversary Sunday at Leeds Parish Church

10.30 am         Dedication Festival Eucharist – Choral Mass of the Sunday morning following the anniversary of the Consecration of the new building on 2nd September 1841

6.30 pm           Special Festal Evensong on the 150th anniversary of the Royal Visit to Leeds in 1858 for the opening of the Town Hall and the 10th anniversary of the Dedication in 1998 of the Parish Church’s Angel Screen in memory of Lord and Lady Marshall

 

Thursday 18th September

7.30 pm           at St Hilda’s, Cross Green Lane, Leeds 9

                        High Mass of the Dedication – sung by Saynte Peter’s Clerkes

 

Battle of Britain Sunday 21st September

10.30 am         Choral Eucharist – Battle of Britain Commemoration with act of Remembrance

 

Sunday 28th September – Friends of the Music Festival Sunday

10.30 am         Choral Festal Matins

3.00 pm           Choral Festal Evensong

 

Harvest Festival Sunday 5th October

10.30 am         Choral Eucharist, attended by British Nuclear Test Veterans

6.30 pm           Harvest Thanksgiving Choral Evensong

 

Monday 6th October

1.05 pm           Yorkshire Three Choirs’ Festival Lunchtime Concert

                        Choirs of Wakefield Cathedral, Leeds Parish Church & Ripon Cathedral

                        Admission Free – A Leeds City Council Lunchtime Music event

 

Friday 10th October

7.00 pm           Organ Concert by Dr Simon Lindley in aid of Parish Youth Work

                        Admission is free to this special 60th birthday recital

                        Retiring Collection for the Parish of Leeds City’s work with young people

 

Sunday 26th October

7.30 pm           in York Minster

                        Gala Choral Concert by St Peter’s Singers with music by

Donald Hunt, Francis Jackson, Philip Moore and Simon Lindley

conducted by the composers

 

Sunday 2nd November

10.30 am         Choral Eucharist of Requiem for departed Benefactors and Faithful

6.30 pm                       Choral Festal Evensong of All Saints
